Even a tiny electrostatic discharge can lead to data loss or even equipment damage. In precision manufacturing workshops, during the production of nanoscale chips, static electricity attracts dust, causing chip short circuits and scrapping. In laboratories, once high-precision scientific instruments are disturbed by static electricity, the accuracy of experimental data is significantly compromised. In these scenarios highly sensitive to static electricity, anti-static flooring, as a key infrastructure for ensuring the safe operation of equipment and maintaining stable production, plays an irreplaceable role.

Anti-static flooring is a type of functional flooring specifically designed to control the accumulation and discharge of static electricity. It is widely used in electrostatically sensitive environments such as electronic manufacturing facilities, data centers, medical institutions, laboratories, and communication rooms, and has become an important eco-friendly building solution.


I. Core Definition: More Than "Anti-Electricity" — A Carrier for Static Control

The core value of anti-static raised flooring lies in its precise prevention and control of static electricity, an "invisible killer" in the field of technology. Through special structural design and material technology, anti-static flooring can conduct static charges generated on the ground to the earth via specific paths, or slowly dissipate static charges through the properties of its own materials. This ensures that the electrostatic potential of the ground is controlled within a safe range (usually requiring electrostatic voltage ≤ 100V).

It is not simply about "preventing the generation of static electricity," but rather about controlling the entire chain of static electricity "generation - accumulation - discharge": on one hand, it reduces the amount of static electricity generated by factors such as friction; on the other hand, it prevents static accumulation through conductive/dissipative properties. Ultimately, it avoids damage to electronic components and precision instruments caused by electrostatic discharge, or safety accidents in flammable and explosive environments (such as chemical workshops).

II. Core Features: Three Key Attributes Determine Its Functionality

The core value of anti-static flooring is supported by its unique features, mainly reflected in the following three aspects:

  • Stable anti-static performance: This is the most core feature, which must meet national standard requirements — the surface resistance of conductive flooring ≤ 1.0×10⁶Ω, and the surface resistance of static-dissipative flooring ranges from 1.0×10⁶Ω to 1.0×10⊃1;⊃1;Ω. Moreover, the performance remains stable for a long time, not affected by temperature, humidity (under normal operating environments), wear, and other factors, to avoid "anti-static failure" during use.

  • Load-bearing capacity and durability: As a flooring material for industrial and commercial scenarios, anti-static flooring needs to bear loads such as equipment weight, personnel movement, and tool transportation. Generally, it requires a concentrated load ≥ 3000N, a uniformly distributed load ≥ 7500N/m², and a surface wear coefficient ≥ 0.5, with qualified impact resistance. This ensures that it is not prone to deformation or cracking during long-term use.

  • Easy wiring and maintenance: Most anti-static flooring adopts a "raised structure," with a 10-30cm raised space reserved under the flooring. This space can accommodate wires, cables, data lines, air conditioning pipes, etc., facilitating later line maintenance and expansion — there is no need for "floor chiseling for wiring" like traditional flooring, which greatly reduces maintenance costs. It is especially suitable for scenarios with dense lines such as data centers and machine rooms.


III. Key Components: Five Parts Constitute a Complete Anti-Static System

Anti-static flooring is not a single "board," but a system that works synergistically with multiple components. Its core components include:

  • Floor panel: The part in direct contact with the outside world, which is the main carrier of anti-static performance. Common materials include all-steel anti-static flooring (steel plate + foamed cement core + anti-static surface layer, cost-effective), aluminum alloy anti-static flooring (lightweight, high strength, suitable for high-end scenarios), and ceramic anti-static flooring (wear-resistant, waterproof, suitable for humid environments). The surface of all these panels needs to be pasted with an anti-static HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) surface layer or coated with anti-static paint to ensure that the surface resistance meets standards.

  • Support stand: Bears the load of the floor panel and maintains the raised height. It consists of a screw, a base, and a supporting plate — the base is usually a galvanized steel plate (corrosion-resistant), the screw can adjust the height (to meet different raised requirements), and the supporting plate is attached to the floor panel to ensure uniform force bearing. A high-quality support stand has a vertical load-bearing capacity ≥ 1500N to avoid tilting under long-term loads.

  • Anti-static finish: the functional layer bonded to the surface of the floor panel, it is the direct agent that delivers static-control performance; its quality governs both the effectiveness of surface charge management and the user experience. Common types include anti-static HPL overlay (high-pressure decorative laminate, offering high wear and stain resistance together with strong decorative appeal, ideal for most dry environments), anti-static PVC overlay (flexible and comfortable underfoot, suited to areas with constant pedestrian traffic), and anti-static ceramic glaze (fired integrally with the ceramic tile, giving extreme abrasion resistance and full waterproofing for wet or heavily worn locations).Raised-Access-Floor-Finish

  • Beam: The "horizontal framework" connecting adjacent support stands, usually made of cold-rolled steel strips (galvanized surface). Its function is to enhance the stability of the overall structure and prevent the floor panel from warping due to one-sided force. The beam and the support stand are fixed by buckles or screws to form a "grid-like support structure," improving the anti-deformation ability of the system.

  • Grounding system: The key to conducting static electricity to the earth, including grounding copper strips, grounding wires, and grounding electrodes. The grounding copper strips are laid on the beams under the flooring. Each floor panel is connected to the copper strips through conductive adhesive or metal contacts, and the copper strips are further connected to the grounding electrodes (grounding resistance ≤ 4Ω) via grounding wires. This forms a static discharge path of "floor panel → copper strip → grounding wire → grounding electrode → earth," ensuring the rapid dissipation of static charges.
